Hostile Questions: Todd Strasser

We knew Todd Strasser was going to be a tough nut to crack. I mean, the guy has written over 120 books for teens and middle graders, including such gritty, hard-hitting award-winners as The Wave, Give a Boy a Gun, and If I Grow Up. But this nut came even tougher than expected, proving that even the mighty Hostile Questions can be knocked back on its feet. This week, anyway.

Just who do you think you are?

Someone who hopes my books will make a difference in someone’s life.

Where do you get off?

Recent events involving guns:

  1. In Florida, an unarmed teenager is stalked and shot to death by an armed man who claims it was self-defense… and, despite being arrested, state law may make his claim justifiable.
  2. In California, a disgruntled student shoots kills seven others at a university.
  3. In Oklahoma, two men randomly shoot and kill three, and wound two more in what is considered a hate crime.
  4. Result: Eleven innocent people die.

What’s the big idea?

This question: What is it going to take to get this country to do something about gun control?

What is your problem, man?

It appears that nothing is being done to stop indiscriminate and random killings of innocent people. Why do so few people seem to care until it happens to someone they know?

Haven’t you done enough?

Obviously not.
