More Tweets for Book Clubs

Back in February I mentioned some Twitter feeds I follow for book news and possible selections for book groups. Here’s another small batch of book tweeters who post pithy tweets about book groups, reading, book news, and other items of interest to readers.

EarlyWord @earlyword– is the twitter handle for the favorite website of many librarians, EarlyWord. Every blog post gets tweeted here and once a month, on the first Tuesday, there’s a thread with the hashtag #ewgc for Early Word Galley Chat. Book group leaders can pick up lots of ideas for discussable titles from the galleys being read and tweeted by librarians across the country.

Readings @ReadingsBooks—an independent bookseller out of Melbourne, Australia, is included because I enjoy following international libraries and booksellers. There’s always something new and different in their twitter feeds and @ReadingsBooks is no exception. Last week they tweeted a poetry-in-film festival and a list of Winter Reads from Australian writers. Yes, for some of us it’s beach read season, but Down Under, they’re curling up with the books we’ll be looking at in September.

Reading Group Center @RGCenter—is the reading group arm of Vintage  & Anchor Books. I include them here because of the lively way they tweet about books and the variety of titles they include. There’s funky tidbits and background information about book group favorites, authors, and even a recipe or two. Nice job of melding promotion with content.

SB Sarah Wendell @SmartBitches—some book groups just wanna have fun and @SmartBitches are there to help them. Funny and honest tweets about “trashy” books, mostly romance, and some segues into food, movies, sports, and popular culture. A vivacious feed for book group leaders looking for something different.

More profiles to come of other publishers, blogs, and individuals doing interesting work on books and reading and using Twitter to do it.
