Short attention span audiobooks: 8 minute quickies from iMinds

specialistpopculture_medium

Got a minute? Give a listen! The six-month-old Australian digital publisher iMinds enters the US via partnerships with Audible, iTunes, LearnOutLoud and OverDrive, with the goal of making your wait time more productive. Offering eight minute overviews of informational topics ranging from Flash Mobs to Behavioral Economics, the company is carving out a niche in the “education/entertainment” consumer market. Multiple titles can be purchased in collections or bundles. There’s even a selection of five minute iMinds Junior titles, covering topics like the Cold War or the Human Body. Find out more in this press release or by visiting the company website at http://www.iminds.com/ You can grab a free selection from iTunes to sample this new twist on the audiobook experience. I’m curious about this statement on the website:

Are you a non-profit, a library, a school, a teaching college or NGO? The KUE Project is about giving equal access to knowledge, contact us for more details and if your organisation qualifies, we’ll send you a USB pre loaded with every single one of our products… FREE. Spread the knowledge, increase the understanding, make the world a better place.

I am sending in a request for my middle school, and will report back here in the comments with the results!

Thanks for stopping by Audiobooker, Sue Ellen, and be sure to send your request for materials to iMinds via the “Contact Us” section of their website!

  3. Mary says:

The word from Iminds is that “The KUE project is designed to ensure that the iMinds catalogue is subsidised for inclusion in libraries or schools that are under-resourced.
This includes in countries with lower education funding and in geographic areas that are disadvantaged.”
